Continental Paper Grading Case Study

After implementing an electronic data system that enabled scanning of accounts payable checks and back-up documents for digital storage, Continental Paper Grading, a waste paper broker in Chicago, found itself with a mix of paper-based and electronic files. At the same time, the company’s continued growth meant it was processing an increasing number of payments, making it difficult for accounts payable staff to keep up with the daily volume of checks and documents that needed to be scanned.

This growing backlog of unscanned documents, combined with the mix of paper and electronic files, was slowing down information retrieval at Continental Paper Grading. This, in turn, was negatively affecting employee productivity and customer service, and exposing the company to potential risks in the event of a tax audit.

To resolve this problem, Continental Paper Grading turned to the records and information management experts at TAB. After a thorough assessment of Continental Paper Grading’s needs, TAB undertook a fully managed conversion project where it provided the manpower, equipment and process for converting all paper documents to electronic files. To enable scanning staff to stay up-to-date with the daily volume of checks, TAB also streamlined the scanning process by integrating Kofax Ascent 7.0 Software into the existing electronic data system.

The result: TAB successfully converted all paper files to digital format in less than a month. And by enhancing the scanning system and process, it has helped ensure that Continental Paper Grading will be able to keep up with its daily check volumes as the business continues to grow.  Download the free case study here.
